Installing Firefox Theme In Thunderbird

EDITED 08/10/2022

I have 2310 themes (as of this edit) available on Mozilla yet only 8 of my themes are available to use in Thunderbird. The Brave theme shown in this tutorial isn't even available for me to use anymore. I have no clue as to why that is. And I've not been able to find any answers either. So more than likely this tutorial is irrelevant now.

In order use a Firefox Theme in Thunderbird, you have to install it through Thunderbird. So you want to open Thunderbird then click on TOOLS. From there go to ADD-ONS.

If you are logged into your Firefox account in Thunderbird, you should see a profile area (as shown below) in the Add-ons Manager window that opens. If you are not logged in, you can login and then click on MY PROFILE. That will take you to your page with your available Themes shown.

But let's say you are not logged in. To find your or another person's design, look for the FEATURED THEMES area on the Add-ons Manager page (as shown below).

Click on the SEE ALL link. That will take you to the main Themes page.

Now if you are looking for a design you uploaded yourself, you can search the name you gave the design but if it's not a particularly unique name you'll most likely end up sifting through a bunch of other designs as well. So in this case, I recommend typing in your username. It should at least get you to your account quicker. The example below shows that I've typed my own username into the search field.

Hovering over a design with your pointer will bring up an ADD button.

Clicking on the ADD button will put the selected design in place but then give you the option to UNDO or MANAGE THEMES.

Personally I like going into a design page before installing it. But it's really not necessary!

There you go. If this still doesn't help, maybe there is a bigger issue than I'm aware of. In that case, maybe asking on the Mozilla Discourse message board will be the best option.

Oh, one more thing that might interest you. If you're wondering why so much of the theme shows up in my print screens it's because I've added two additional blank toolbars.

If you are interested in doing so, RIGHT CLICK on any empty space in the header section. When the menu (as seen above) displays, click on CUSTOMIZE. Then click on ADD NEW TOOLBAR, give it a name (I just gave it a number) and then click on and drag the FLEXIBLE SPACE element into the area of your new toolbar. If you don't add something, it won't work. Something has to be placed in the toolbar. Then click DONE. You can always hide a toolbar if need be by RIGHT CLICKING on any empty space and UNCHECKING the toolbar you wish to hide. It will still be there if you choose to use it again later.

That's it! Enjoy.
